Lincoln Road Heroes

During this time, Miami Beach Community Church and Lincoln Road HEROES has been very busy trying to feed the communities that have been most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In Miami Beach

Currently the church is using the donations from Trader Joe’s and what we can purchase from local farmers to feed the Miami Beach community while practicing social distancing and by appointment only.  We have been feeding on average 80 families per week

Little Haiti:

With the donations we have received, we are also conducting a food drive once a week on Saturday mornings in Little Haiti.  Each week the participation has grown and we are up to feeding 95 families in the Little Haiti community.

“What should we do then?” the crowd asked.  John answered, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”                                                                        Luke 3:10-13 (NIV)

“You don’t need a mask or cape to be a HERO.”

All it takes is the ability to assist someone in need. When you listen to each other, offer a helping hand, or give someone a ride, these are all simple acts of kindness, using the gifts we already have as a congregation.

Lincoln Road Heroes is a ministry that was developed under the umbrella of Matthew 25 (M25). Its focus is on helping children, low-income families, and seniors through social, educational and community service projects.

Lincoln Road Heroes offers vacation bible school to children in the community during the summer. In 2020 we will be serving children through special projects and field trips. The ministry also purchases and delivers groceries to low-income families. Recently, we have partnered with the Jewish Community Service Senior Center (JCS) to assist senior with meals, activities, and fellowship.

Several times throughout the year we have fund-raisers. This could be as simple as a bake sale or as big as a community yard sale. It is a great way to meet your neighbor, be part of a wonderful ministry, and build relationships while having fun.

We are always looking for volunteers who can bring their energy and new ideas about how we can help people in our community. If you are interested in participating or learning more about this ministry, simply look at the calendar on our website to see when our next meeting is and you are welcome to attend. Meetings usually take place on a Sunday after Sunday Worship Service. If you are not able to make the meetings, but you would like to get involved, call the church office and ask to be on our email distribution list for meeting minutes and upcoming events.
